ECCO Honored in China

Honor to ECCO Xiamen for great employment.

The ECCO-factory in Xiamen, China, has been honored with an award that is the highest award ever granted at national level. It is the first time a company from Xiamen has received this national award.

ECCO Xiamen has been awarded “National Advanced Employment Company” by the national government in China.

“Here it’s almost like winning a gold medal at the Olympics. The mayor of Xiamen has been in Beijing to receive the award on behalf of Xiamen City,” says Gary Smale, President of ECCO Xiamen.

Six companies from Xiamen were nominated. Two out of six were chosen for further selection. ECCO Xiamen stood out and won the honor in the last round at the national level.

The State Council highlights ECCO Xiamen as one of the labor intense companies that follow every step of the Chinese law. They also state that ECCO Xiamen collaborate especially well with the local community. For example more than 70 pct. of the employees live in the local area unlike many other labor intense companies in China. The ECCO-factory in Xiamen has more than 3,300 employees.

“ECCO Xiamen is a labor intense company but we still follow every step of the Chinese Law. Also commended was the fact that we employ 39 physically challenged employees, creating training programs and working conditions so they feel the same as all other employees in our ECCO family,” says Gary Smale.
