Graeme McDowell claims second title in five weeks and moves to world no. 7. He faced off in the final against fellow staff player and five-time European Tour champion Thongchai Jaidee.
“Both Graeme and Thongchai really played well this week and it was pretty special for us to watch two of our players going head to head in the final”, says Jesper Thuen, Global Sponsorship PR & Event Manager ECCO Golf.
The tournament’s top-ranked player, McDowell, fell two down after four holes before rallying on the back side to seal a 2-and-1 victory. With the win, his second in five weeks after the RBC Heritage, the 33-year-old moved to no. 7 on the Official World Golf Ranking.
“The list of champions Els, Montgomerie, Westwood, Ballesteros, Norman, Lyle, Faldo, Player, Palmer – it's just crazy stuff really and to have your name on a trophy this cool is pretty special. I'll drink a couple of cold ones tonight and enjoy this special moment in my career”, Graeme McDowell said after the victory.
