Wearing the brand’s BIOM EVO RACER, ECCO ambassador Martin Jensen dominated from start to finish to win this year’s Ironman Japan with a time of 8 hours, 48 minutes.
Battling the tretcherous conditions in Hokkaido, the pre-race favourite didn’t dissapoint onlookers, combining a 49:22 swim, race-best 4:52:28 bike and race-best 3:01:09 marathon to win by more than 30 mins.
Elated after the result, Jensen commented:
“I knew going into the race I would be the favourite, but winning by such a big margin is fantastic. I was able to keep everything under control on the run, but still ran my 2nd fastest marathon ever.
2013 has been an absolutely amazing year for me, and to pretty much secure my participation in the 2014 Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, more than one year out from the race, gives me the possibility to prepare in the best possible way for what will be the most significant race of the 2014 season.”
For Jensen, this wins caps off a brilliant 2013 season that also included another big win at Ironman 70.3 Racine. The Ironman Japan triumph sees him earn 2,000 KPR points, which represents a significant step on the road to Kona next year on the 70.3 circuit.
