Zaha Mohammad Hadid

Dame Zaha Mohammad Hadid was an Iraqi-born British architect. She was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, in 2004. She received the Stirling Prize in 2010 and 2011.

In 2012, she was created a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire and in 2015 she became the first woman to be awarded the RIBA Gold Medal in her own right.
Considered as a pioneer and an icon in architecture, Hadid was also known for her formidable personality, her acclaimed work and ground-breaking forms include the aquatic center for the London 2012 Olympics, the Broad Art Museum in the U.S., and the Guangzhou Opera House in China. She will remain an inspiration for all and particularly for the Arab women.

Nayla Al Khaja

Nayla etched herself into the region’s film industry by Producing and Directing award winning shorts such as “The Neighbour” and “Malal” which went on to be nominated and receive awards from notable festivals such as the Dubai International Film Festival, Florence Middle East Film Festival and Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
To date, her films have participated in over 42 festivals worldwide. She is the first UAE national woman to embark in such career.

Lana Al Rasheed

As Kuwait’s first female hotelier as well as the Co-founder and Managing Director or THE CITY magazine, Lana Al Resheed is currently one of Kuwait’s most premium luxury tastemakers and influential lifestyle figures.
Lana Al-Resheed has taken part in and publicly advocated several humanitarian aid relief campaigns, mission trips, and goodwill projects around the Middle East and has built a notable goodwill contribution platform.

Dr. Hayat Sindi

Hayat Sindi is a leading biotechnologist and a champion of science and technology in the Middle East. She went on to earn a degree in Pharmacology from King’s College London in 1995 and five years later became the first woman from the Gulf to obtain a PhD in Biotechnology from Cambridge.
Driven by her desire to more closely link science and social impact she co-founded a non-profit organization with a team at Harvard called Diagnostics For All, which creates innovative, inexpensive, point-of-care diagnostic devices for people in impoverished regions. Along with her scientific activities, she participated in numerous events aimed at raising the awareness of science amongst women, particularly in Saudi Arabia and the Muslim World.

Zahra Lari

Zahra Lari is a competitive figure skater from the United Arab Emirates who has represented her country in International competitions in places like Slovakia, Hungary, and Italy. She is the first UAE National woman to have competed internationally in this discipline. Her plan is to participate in the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea in 2018.

Ruqaya Al Ghasra

Ruqaya Al-Ghasra is a Bahraini athlete. She was one of the first women to represent Bahrain at the Olympic Games, by taking part in the women's 100 metres sprint at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She won medals at the 2006 Asian Games and went on to run at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. She announced her international retirement in 2009.

Elham Alqasimi - UAE

In April 2010, Elham Al-Qasimi attempted an unassisted expedition to the North Pole. During a three-week journey, Elham skied cross- country to the North Pole starting at 89 degrees latitude. As a result, she was the first Arab woman to set foot on the North Pole and the first UAE national to ski to the North Pole, with no food drops, no re- supplies and no visits to towns or settlements.

Dr. Shurooq Amin

Born to a Kuwaiti father and Syrian mother, Dr. Shurooq Amin is a mixed-media interdisciplinary artist and an Anglophone poet whose purpose is to instigate change in society. She has a PhD in Ekphrasis, the connection between art and poetry, and has been published and anthologized internationally. She has been a guest speaker at various Universities and a judge for various events.

Her Highness Sayyida Basma Al Said

A Psychologist by profession and the owner of Whispers of Serenity Clinic for Mental Health, Oman’s first mental health clinic, Her Highness Sayyida Basma has been working in the field for 14 years, spending 11 years at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) hospital before establishing Whispers three years ago. Considered an icon in the health sector, Her Highness Sayyida Basma Al Said is recognised for her active efforts in raising awareness about mental health in the Arab World.
