Meet Danish couture designer
We had a talk with David Andersen about his design for ECCO and the joy and thrill
Danish couture designer David Andersen debuted his eponymous collection, David Andersen,
in 2007 to instant international success. His collections are recognized for the
craftsmanship and clean, modern look. This holiday season David brings the thrill
of giving and receiving gifts to new heights with a beautiful gift bag design exclusively
The ECCO Collaboration
When ECCO asked David to design a gift bag, he never hesitated. With a shared Scandinavian
design heritage and an equally strong focus on form and function David felt confident
about the exciting challenge.
The Holiday Passion
As a former dancer and opera and theatre enthusiast, David Andersen has a passion
for lavish staging and extravagant design for special occasions like the festive
season. It calls for something extraordinary, and thus, he brought this passion
into his work on the ECCO gift bag.
The Danish Inspiration
His primary inspiration was the Danish artist and ceramicist Bjørn Wiinblad, world-famous
for his fabulating illustrations. The result is a clean and modern graphic print
on a warm copper background. A graphic expression true to David’s own design style
and matching ECCO as a Scandinavian company.
“To me giving a beautifully wrapped present and experience the joy and expectation
of the recipients is an absolute delight!”
